NEW VALIDE MOSQUE AND COMPLEX (NEW MOSQUE AND COMPLEX)

The New Valide Mosque and Complex is known as the complex with the longest construction period in the Ottoman history. The construction ordered by Safiye Sultan (the favourite consort of Sultan Murad III and mother to his son Mehmed III) started in 1589, but was paused due to various reasons and completed in 1663. The main buildings of the complex are the mosque, Spice Bazaar, mausoleum and the Royal Pavilion.
