Walled Obelisk also known as Constantine Obelisk is located close to the Serpent Column on the south of Sultanahmet Square. The 32 m high obelisk was constructed of roughly cut stones by Constantine VII. The exact construction date is unknown but after it was restored by Constantine VII in the 10th century the column had been called as the Constantine Obelisk. At that time, it was reportedly decorated with gilded bronze plaques that portrayed the victories of Basil I, the grandfather of Constantine VII and there was a sphere at the top of obelisk.
