DESIGN CITY ISTANBUL LOGO CONTEST CONCLUDED One of the eight cities, accepted to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the design category in October 2017, was Istanbul. Founded in 2004 "to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development", the UNESCO Creative Cities Network currently has 180 members from all around the world, including Hatay (Gastronomy), Gaziantep (Gastronomy) and Kütahya (Craft and Folk Art) from Turkey

One of the eight cities, accepted to the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the design category in October 2017, was Istanbul. Founded in 2004 "to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development", the UNESCO Creative Cities Network currently has 180 members from all around the world, including Hatay (Gastronomy), Gaziantep (Gastronomy) and Kütahya (Craft and Folk Art) from Turkey.

After Istanbul was accepted to the network, The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, which had directed the candidacy process, organized the Creathon City / Design City Istanbul Logo Contest on 17-18 February, with the aim of designing a logo that will promote Istanbul on an international level. The contestants, competing in Professional and Student categories both individually and as a team, were given 8 hours to submit their designs.

On Sunday, 18 February, the jury, among whom were professors from prominent universities of Turkey such as İstanbul Technical University, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University and Yıldız Technical University, evaluated the works submitted by the contestants.

Aytur Şahinbay, who won the first prize in the Professional category, was awarded 6.000 TL. Burak Keles and Onur Aşkın became second as a team, winning 4,000TL, and Ahmet Fatih Çiloğlu, at the third place, won 2,000TL.

The winner in the Student category was Şevval Ceylan, with 3,000 TL, while the second Elif Savaş won 2,000 TL, and Ahsen Yelda Akar, İrem Gözü and Ufuk Çakmak won 1000TL as a team.
